thought i could stomach it

i went for an interview today, coz i think career advancement is extremely important..big bucks for the bigger title we hold. to be a Public Relations & Events Manager for a company which is the sole distributor of Germany-born cars is of course better than a Marketing Exec for the distributor of South Korea-born cars. so i chose the former. it's about getting new challenges too, not only the money that beckons :p

besides i get to give out orders if i'm the manager, right..LOL

and so the journey started with thinking about the outfit to be worn, and figuring out what the question that i'm supposed to answer..i did some homework okay. didn't really think i'd go there with nothing prepared beforehand..do u?

lemme count, i've been to an interview when i was 17, a mock one before two of my school teachers. another  one was when i applied for the temporary job, one for my appraisal during the few months on the job, one for when i applied to get in degree program for mass comm (which i blew thru and thru) guess i'm not those type then..haha

just a few, and don't even need both of my hands to count..let alone my toes :p

for those who may have been guessing that this one's a mock one too, you're right..yeay.

we had to cut out an advert of our own choice and prepare the relevant documents just like a real interview..all these for a management subject.

the day before the interview i was being fine with everything. thought i'd wear baju kurung, since i wanted to go back home right after the interview and i'm not gonna turn heads with the shirt and slack plus rouge and everything on my face. so i got everything ready and even tried to write down answers for some possible questions, but typical me..anything having to do with education made me sleepy. so after some hinting yawns and my eyes going sepet, i decided to hit the sack. yet, when i did some bedtime reading my eyes went big like i've never felt sleepy at all :p

come morning i took my own sweet time getting ready like i was the last person to go for the interview (i'm in the middle of the 10 person list). like every other time when i'm in the rush of getting ready, my mascara smudged when i blinked, the eyeliner also smudged, had to reapply the foundation and powder a few times after that (after i took care of the smudges), the blusher was too bright (i don't wear blusher, normally) and i had to pat some more powder on top of it..so convenient.

and when i arrived, the second person was already inside. it was sweltering, but luckily i didn't sweat much at that time..thank goodness. we sat outside, talking about the questions asked and tried to calm ourselves. this was what i did :p

the other 'applicants'
then when i went inside, i was feeling okay. but the questions..oh my. i thought like everyone else i'd get questions that are quite easy..the usual simple stuff. but when my turn came, it was like the real deal. i gave out a lot of "ummm...i think..ummm" "being a..what do you call it?..ummm". the questions did get me off track. and if i remember it correctly, i sure did give some answers that totally don't match the question asked..HAHA. surely the lecturer pening one.

i should have just pick out advert for a Finance manager or something. something a bit out of the lecturer's main expertise. it's done though..

the case of mistaken identity

i was so excited at the prospect of doing something nice for others that i got my clothes ready the night before, well actually i had to wake up early in the morning..and i'd rather not rush. the girl said we would have to be at the pickup point by 7-ish, just imagine that. but since it was still dark, i had the time for a cuppa while waiting for the first streak of light.

then me and my friend walked to the place where we're supposed to meet everyone else, whom we haven't the slightest idea of. we enjoyed the walk along the lakeside with the chirpings of birds getting ready to start the day, and not anyone else was around. it felt like the old days when we had to get up extra early for school.

when we arrived there, we could see this group of people waiting..but apparently they don't look like they're part of our group. several donned similar looking trackbottoms and we deduced that they were going elsewhere. but to be on the safe side, we asked them..of course. and yeah, they were going to UTeM for some sort of match that we didn't bother to ask.

there were no one else around there, except at the Padang Kawad coz there was an event for the office management students. it was too early to see other human beings of course, it was an early saturday morning :p

we had this idea of being left behind, with the others coming extra early. but we threw away that notion as fast as we blurt it out, it just couldn't be that way. so, we waited for the others and talked. what else to do while sitting by the road side :p then suddenly a car stopped beside us and the person inside asked whether we're from tun fatimah, we nodded and after that she drove towards the parking lot. both of us thought the person is the person from HEP that's gonna be with us during the duration of the program. but then she stayed in her car, and we looked around for the others. finally a group of guys came and i said maybe they're with us. the next to arrive was another lady with two children tagging along.

apparently the person that we thought was from HEP is actually a student, and of the same age as my friend. of course younger 4 years than me, but both of us thought she was someone older..maybe a staff. the second lady was the real staff :p there were supposed to be 12 girls but only 3 of us showed up, and after making an effort to wait for them we went to the place.

it was not that far from our campus, and we arrived there after 15 minutes or so. both the staff and the driver don't have any idea where we're really going, and when we arrived in the village the driver drove slowly as to enable us to point out "a place with a lot of people". great.

it was a community hall actually, and when we arrived there were people going around doing something. and the place was decked with banners and decos, like there would be some sort of VIP coming through the entrance any minute after we arrived. our arrival was announced, and that made me feel like royalties :p it's usually me waiting for the announcement of VIPs' arrival and suddenly it's my turn..haha

i thought we would be listening to speeches by the VIP at the end of the program, but no. we were told to make ourselves comfortable, and all of us actually stuck out like a sore thumb among the others who were bustling around getting ready. so we chose to sit at the back of the hall and i took out the novel i brought just incase something like this happened.

the program we thought was doing work for needy people or in the words of the girl who looked for volunteers, doing something for orphans..was actually some kind of presentation of the youth org of the village to the panel of jury. they were vying for an award, and before going to the national level, they had to hear all the comments from the jury. so much so for doing work..talk about blunders people make.
so we had nothing to do other than sitting there and listen to the presentation and comments the whole time. good thing i brought the book, and even managed to finish half of it there. my friend and the staff even managed to have a nap, imagine how bored we were. but then the food made going there worth while :p there were lempeng (pancake), fried bihun and jemput2 ikan bilis with sambal and chicken curry. i took a lil bit of everything except the curry. it's been a while since i've had lempeng, and it was good. the same goes for the jemput2. for lunch we had nasi tomato, which was scrumptious too.
during the presentation, my friend talked with one auntie beside her. there were two girls with her and we thought they are her children, but they're her grandkids actually. talk about looking young for your age ;) we felt like pinching the younger girl's cheeks..so chubby. and i like her lashes..long and curly. but she's shy so she didn't talk much. you can see her applying lipgloss on her lips in these pictures..young kids are learning to be vain early in life these days.

love is in the air

finally i watched Valentine's Day the movie, seems that nowadays i keep on looking out for movies to watch and end up waiting for quite some time for it. at first i thought of watching Percy Jackson with my brother and then after that, maybe i'll catch the Valentine's Day alone. but since my parents said they were gonna do some shopping and decided to go out with us, we have only enuff time to watch one movie. it would be a different story if i'm driving. it's a good thing though, coz the roads were congested even though a lot of ppl went back to work today.
the movie was really good with all the big names in it. bradley cooper is handsome as always, and same goes for eric dane..
i never imagined they'd turned out like that and was caught by surprised. i liked the part where brad and julia roberts were in the plane and had fun getting to know each other during the 14 hrs flight,
a small part of me was hoping that they would somehow end up together..coz i already guessed that she was flying home to be with her son.
owh, and i guessed wrong about Edison. i thought he liked Rainey and was trying really hard to make Valentines Day special for her. it was cute though when he told the person that she was his Valentines.
of all the actors and actresses, i think Taylor Swift is just not cut out to be one. she couldn't act, period.
and the most annoying thing happened to me today, i've never had it before..but the person who sat beside me was giving comments throughout the movie. it was irritating. even if it is your habit to do that while watching the telly, please refrain from doing it in the cinema. i don't need to hear.."eh, tu anak die ke?" or "mesti die suka org tu"..ever so often during the movie. if you really can't stop yourself, please say it softly and not make me shush you.

test the water before wading in the pool

after toying with the idea, our family decided to carry out the family day this holiday and bring together most of the members. and with the help of a friend of the family, we managed to get hold of a resort which haven't been fully booked yet (you know how it is during the holiday season). the resort is known as Lake Garden Resort, i think ( i couldn't be bothered to memorize the name) which is located near the lake in A.Keroh. from the outside it looked shabby, like it haven't been cared for so long..but the interior is pleasing enuff. we are very much delighted with the facilities..although not much, but we can still make use of them..the swimming pool of course, and the tennis court for the games.
we arrived in the afternoon of the 14th and settled in while waiting for the others to show up.
all of us were there the first night and we had barbecue dinner and fried rice with the other stuff.
the next morning, we started the day with aerobics led by my cousin and then we had breakfast before the games.
we were divided into 4 teams and had a lively time taking part in the games.
most of the time we were just thrilled to be there and be with our family, having a fabulous vacation. the last of the three days jaunt was marked by the photo session of each of the family and then all of us together, but there were also some of us who had to go back early and thus didn't get the chance to be in the photos.
our next outing is yet to be confirmed, but most prolly it would be a trip to somewhere..i really can't wait for that :)
