Now you don't

The Great Gatsby posed such an attraction that drew me to watch it. The first one is because of Leo DiCaprio, the main character and also the story was about people during the 1920s. Tiffany&Co. also had a part in the movie, which is also a big thing.

I love everything about The Great Gatsby, the costumes, the jewellery, the colors, and even the pretty scenes. But it was a sad movie. It is such a loss, and I blame Daisy and her husband for everything.

Next movie is Now You See Me. You see, this movie was chosen on impulse. I wanted to watch the movie KIL, in which Redza Minhat starred. But since I was going to work after the movie, I had to choose another one. KIL would be too close to the time I need to enter for work. Now You See Me was chosen because of Mark Ruffalo and Isla Fisher. No review, no nothing.

And I am glad I did.

It was a great movie. At first I thought it was about a bunch of thieves, planning a heist. But it is about a magician's son, now a magician himself who planned a revenge for his dead father. I always thought the French Interpol lady was the hooded person, but it was not. This one is a MUST watch.

happy feet

I had a great day today, if not for a small glitch.

But let's just focus on the nice things that happened today. I think it was in the afternoon that this three person came and looked around at the menu board. Then one of them started to tell me about the bad experience they had at another store. The drinks was not up to their liking. They were wondering what was happening. And they even confided in me that they had intentions to go to another brand.

I told them this, "Please don't go there. Do stay, and I'll make sure your drinks are made just the way you want them."

I tried my best (all within my power) to save the guests from having bad perception about us again.

When I asked if they are happy with what we served them, they told me.. "Thank you very much. You saved Mermaid!"
I can never be happier when I heard that.

And I had lunch with great friends, a bit late and short one..but definitely made my day. Perhaps next time a whole day spend together friends? ;)

rat

I couldn't really recall since when can I get this vibe from some (not all) people, who some day will give me trouble.
It's just a matter of time.

I can't believe that I got that at the first look of the guy, the bad vibe I mean. I saw him, and Taylor Swift's I Know You Were Trouble keeps on playing in my head..haha, okay that is not true.
I just got this feeling in my gut, plus his sneaky look :p

I forgot what else he did yesterday (which was his first day with us) but he kept on asking  for everyone's ID number - to know how long we've been with the company. To compare and make sure we're all "kids" compared to him. He even highlighted to me that he have been with the company for 5 looooooooong years. Well, you shouldn't be glad that you have been that old in the company and yet we hold the same title dude.

And then today, his second day working with us - he has the nerve to change all our norms. That is my store and my staff. You have no right to do that without asking us first. I was so pissed off that I retaliated - I need to take care of my staff of course. There were mostly new staff  around at that time and they have just learnt some things and bearing them in mind. How can you make them confuse with all your ways??

Then he went running to my store manager to tell tales. Fine. I felt like working with a 5-year old suddenly. Why, you think my manager will scold me because of that? Pfft..

Thank God he's just placed with us temporarily. Time please move faster, I can't wait for the new store to open and for him to get out of my store.

You make me crazy

Today was a great day, for both the troublemakers are not present.

I seriously pity those who live their lives feeling inadequate until they have to tell stories about others, even making up stories as they go along. And how 'lucky' for those who get caught at their first try. Even if you're younger than others, that is not an excuse. You should just go and live with the fairies and gnomes if you really have 'fantasies'.

One made up stories having a guy fancy her, and that she does not like him at all. But why do we see the girl all giggly and playing with her hair in plain view of the guy? The girl even put the blame on me when she was caught playing favorite game on the guy. And when the guy was asked if he is interested in the said girl, he is truly shocked and disagreed. So girl, who's fancying who actually? Don't make yourself a sad case, please.
To the guy, sorry I had a bad impression of you young fella. My bad. I should have learn more about you before making second guesses. Bad sister-figure I am :p Nice knowing you, let's have a great time working together.

The other girl was super friendly with everyone when she started, even more so with the guys. Then she told someone that the guys are all after her..touching her all the time, bla bla bla. Who's touching who? What are you intending to start here? Why, the kids these days are so 'creative' that they are so imaginative. Or are they seeing things in their head? Should I send them to get professional opinion?

Now I'm so happy I let this out :)

Truly satisfied!

Copies

Our company is growing bigger and bigger and so we need to hire more people to fill up the empty spots. The first batch in our store (with me as one of the trainer :p) has been with us for one month plus, I think and so now it's the start for the second batch. But since they haven't worked that long and we don't usually work the same shift, I haven't had much interactions with them.

Then this one guy said to me today, "I think you look very familiar. What's your name?" I thought he was talking to somebody else coz he was actually standing behind me in the bar at that time. Then when he pointed out that he was really talking to me, I was thinking - do I really have a lot of 'twins'? I've been getting that since junior high.

I just laughed and did not say anything. But he was persistent in wanting to know if I am the one he was talking about. He said, "Seriously, tell me which elementary school did you attend?"

That made me laugh out more. He wanted to know so much that I asked him back, "How old are you now?"

When he said he's 23, I laughed again and said "There you go. You've got the answer."

There's no way I am that girl he went to school with.

flickers

Contradictions really bring confusion..I do different things and meant something else whenever I was nervous. Yeah, nervous me could have been sending mixed signals to people out there. But I do hope I showed what I really meant after that.

I'd be serious most of the time while working (read: when the orders can't stop coming in), running here and there. It's like I manned all the station - I'm the one who pick up calls, take orders and do a lot of other stuff. Thankfully there's this one person who helps me whenever I seem to be needed at different places. If not, I'd have to run all the time to cover the field :p
Glad is not suffice to describe, I'll need to check the dictionary for the right word. Haha.

ignorance

I am not quite sure of what to call this person, or family rather. I shouldn't blab on other people's characteristics because I am not a perfect person myself. But somehow I need to vent, and help others to not make these kind of mistakes.

This girl likes to order people around and push all the hard work away, not even being discreet at that. She will just say,
You do this..you do that..
I don't want to do any more work, I'll just wait for the time for me to clock out of work.
You take the orders from the customers, I'm too lazy to do that.

The animosity (or is that too harsh a word?) towards her grows day after day - how long can you stand that? At first I'm still being cool, didn't show any bad feelings towards her. Whereas I used to show every emotion on my face, people would know if I don't like anything. But now I can't promise that I'll be comfortable with her.

The first time she hitched a ride with me (after the closing shift) I told her I couldn't send her to her house. I was only willing to drop her at the pump station near the junction towards her house - it was around 10 minutes drive from there, and the area is not well lit. What am I to do other than that? It's in the wee hours in the morning and I would have to drive back to the main road ALONE along that dark area.

At first her mom told her to just sleep at my house. What the? You were not even willing to come pick up your daughter when it's so near your house already. It's not like she needed to be picked up at the work place. That one sentence from her mother already made me question the family's way of thinking. But after calling a few times, her father came to fetch her from the pump station.

Then I did the same thing every time she hitched a ride with me. And it's not like I just leave her there, I waited until her father came. I thought it was enough, and that they are okay with that arrangement.

But NO. Yesterday another girl told me that the 1st girl's father is unhappy because I won't send her straight home and that he needs to go out and fetch her each time I send her back. NICE. This calls out for Like father, like daughter. Or actually it's Like parents, like family.

look here

The partners have been planning to have a BBQ night for some time already, and my manager kept on telling me (more towards promoting the event to me) that there would be a lot of food and that he would give me the day off so that it would be easier for me, than having to go there after work. But I guess he forgot about it when there were so many things that needed his attention these past few days. So yeah, I got to work the closing shift on that day.

Mom told me not to go, saying if the event was to start after us finished working - that could go on forever. Thanks, mom. I think she saw that day coming. I wasn't even in the mood to go to work that day - extreme fatigue and sore all over. The partners kept on asking me to go, but as I said..I was totally exhausted. Even from before work.

The other partner who was supposed to be in the closing shift as me, left early because apparently nobody's going to send her to the place if she didn't follow the others who went earlier. I was furious to see her work halfway done, being continued by my superior's wife. Even if she needs to go early, she could have at least made sure her work was done. The superior was too kind.

I wasn't in my best spirits that night, and then going through that situation just made me turn mad. Then when I already calmed down, trying to finish my work as fast as I could - the screaming feat started. My superior and his wife kept on taking turns screaming at their 3 year-old son. The boy was naughty, that's true. But he's just 3 years old for God's sake. It's possible that they're both still young, the guy is 5 years younger than me..and he already has a son. Or it also could be the case that I don't quite know the feeling of being a parent, yet. There's a big possibility of having a tiger mom inside of me - the control freak, and future screaming queen. Haha. All I did was smile at the little boy when he kept on pulling out all the drawers and opening the cabinet doors. Yeah, maybe it's because he's not mine that I can smile at him. But that's what I thought all the time, he's just a small kid - who kept on flashing his cute smiles at me. He does look a little bit like the kid in the picture below.

too late

I was famished when I finished work a few hours ago, and started to have images of piping hot fried rice dancing in front on my eyes. It was after 10 at night, and I don't want to start taking supper - and turn it into a habit. I snuck glances at the place selling tomyam and fried dishes when I drove past it, but that's all.
And when I'm back at home I cooked instant noodles for myself..so much for not taking supper.

I was supposed to work the closing shift tonight, but my manager changed it so that I went in earlier and came back earlier too. Today was okay, because I get to look at several hot Korean guys. Usually those who came were just..Koreans. That fact alone already excites me, what happens when fine-looking guys showed up? Haha. Seriously, I said to my colleague..I can tell that this guy's Korean just by looking at his nose. His friend's kinda cute too..and they are all tall. The guy with the cute nose even bowed his head to me when I said 'kamsahamnida' to the group of guys. Wow, first time ever a Korean bowed his head to me. I bowed my head (slightly) back to him. But still, I'm feeling like a Korean myself after that. Stop dreaming and get back to work..haha.

The next group has several familiar faces, I think they're studying here. But there's one guy who looks like Hyun Bin, and today was my first time seeing him. Even his hairstyle looks something like Hyun Bin's in the photo below. If I was bold, I'd point that out to him :p "Do you realize you look like that famous actor?" Gosh, that sounds like a cheesy pick-up line. But he was always with his large group of friends, so that's a no-go. Hehe. Like I would say something like that to his face.

one look

Again, I met Koreans. This time I was able to recognize them by only taking one look - pro already? Haha. I'm not kidding you.

But there's also help from one of them. He asked for extra drizzle on his drink, but the way he said it made it easy to know he's Korean. He said, "more sh-yrup". Yes, as in more syrup. There's a big Korean flag stamped on his forehead already :p

That's the only thing that made working during the holidays bearable. The customers were doubly fussy, unlike during Christmas. And the congestion is making me dreading this coming Chinese New Year.

something old, something new

Actually it was last year's news..even though it happened merely hours ago.First thing's first..

Happy New Year Everyone :)

I met some Korean guys..and I'm totally ecstatic even though they're not celebs or anything. I think. A bunch of guys were standing around the leather couch in our outlet and I was clearing the table when one of them asked me if there's Wi-fi available. I answered him, but he said "andwae" to his friend. I was struck by lightning right then. Exagerating, of course. But I wanted to be sure, so I listened to a couple more words before I asked.."Are you Korean?" And the friend said "Yes". They spent a few hours going online I guess. What I can see from what they ordered is that they're very health conscious. Half of them ordered something with green tea..and everyone don't want any whipped cream. And when they were leaving I said "gamsahapnida" to them - the only Korean phrase I was able to utter. I should have said something else to them too..haish. Lost the chance already.

Now I'm imagining if only Hyun Joong or Wooyoung would come (in disguise, of course) and spend time here. Haha. Like they need to, or can do that.

If I wasn't working at that time I could have taken photos to show to my sister. She's feeling jealous when she heard I met the guys. Haha.

Then another four Koreans came in..some time after the first group left. I think this group is a family, and the guys don't look as good as the first group, so I didn't bother to converse with them. LOL. I was busy actually.

That's what's new. The old news - my feet hurt, again. And I was wincing every now and then when I stepped on the accelerator and brake. Thank God I wasn't driving a manual car. The usual half-hour journey took me an hour tonight. Lucky I decided not to buy ice cream, else it'll turn into a puddle of cream even before I reach home.

nappeun namja

That Korean phrase translates to Bad Guy in English.

I heard the guys talked about this one guy who used to be a partner at our outlet a long time ago. He's married and yet he spends time at our outlet with his girlfriend daily. Yes, every single day you can see them lounging around sipping on beverages and going online using the Wi-Fi service available.

And today, he asked a favor from my supervisor to send a gift to another girl who's working in the same row as our outlet. As my supervisor couldn't leave the outlet unattended, he told me to go instead. That other girl is less than half his age. Fresh out of school. And he had the cheek to make me cover his act from his girlfriend..whom just a half hour before was bragging to my supervisor that she treats her guy nicely and he didn't fool around behind her (as if).

That needs a cliche right there and then. What goes around comes around. Simple as it is. Karma. Don't do unto others what you don't want others do unto you. That is for the girlfriend.

All of us need somebody to pass us the mirror some time, right?

But what about the shameless and heartless guy? Anybody wants to run over somebody? I'll show you a picture of him. Haha.

Okay..seriously. He needs someone to hit him on his head.
This image doesn't even describe the complex situation.

not for the faint-hearted

The first closing time I experienced last night (which actually ended early this morning) was unbelievable.

Imagine having to scrub clean up everything..and that is every.single.thing right on the first day of work. Actually I had a lot of help from a senior partner. So the weight was lessened a little bit. I haven't had the chance to be partnered with others, yet. But it will be a loss when he starts work at the new branch soon.
Another senior partner that I met this morning seems strict and would stand two feet away, asking what should I do next everytime it's a new task. But at times when us new girls didn't quite have the strength, he'll lend us his.

I hope I'll get the grip in one week tops. Now it seems that there's a humongous amount of information that needs to be stored - what goes with this, what goes with that, what do I need to do, etc. I want to be in the seniors' team and not the newbies'. I am in awe with their experience and knowledge, and I know I need time to be at their level.

Even though it seems to be somewhat unwanted, a day off is very much needed. My feet need some more soaking in warm water. How did they go through all that all this time? But I guess it will be easier when I get a hold on it. The partners are a friendly and helpful bunch, it could be the key to endurance around there ;)

A check on the inventory (after only two shifts of working): aching feet and a cut on my right forefinger.
Can someone help rub my feet?

play the maze game

It was at least two hours ago that we arrived at home, but my knees still hurt. I don't know why it's this bad though, I think I've done worse longer shopping trips and using public transport before. But today, I was in comfort of not having to stand, waiting for any bus or trains and not having to run to catch them on time..and it hurts. My knees are killing me, enough said.

I happened to eavesdrop listen to my interviewer's conversation with his boss, (I couldn't help it but to listen, of course :p) and found out that there's a job fair today and tomorrow. So I went online after that and found out about BN Youth Job Fair at PWTC. I didn't seem to notice the company's presence there this afternoon, though.

It was massive - the people who attended the event, that is. Everywhere you see are just heads and bodies and people rubbing shoulders over and over again. I didn't count how many laps I did in the big hall, all I know is that I went down the same aisles several time (because I didn't really keep track of where I went, and there's just so many people in there). At one point I felt suffocated, and couldn't continue walking among the throng of people. Then we walked back to Sunway Putra Mall, where my dad parked the car.

middle eastern food section
We had lunch there, and I chose to have chicken kabsa at the food court. The portion was small (thank God, else I'd eat too much again :p) and it tasted okay, the chicken was a bit too dry. Maybe I should have chosen lamb instead. Dad had minced lamb kebab with rice..and that was delicious. Next time (if there's next time) I'll try their barberry rice, and see if they can match the one we had at the airport in Iran years ago.

scanner

How many of you have been told by someone that you are pretty, or your outfit looks great on you? Now that could be an ongoing daily thing, right?

But what would happen if someone, no matter a stranger or a person you know, tells you that you emit a certain aura? A certain color, to be exact. Does that mean you are radiant? Haha.

I was trying to adjust myself to the new life out of home, the new surrounding, the new friends, etc..when this one teacher of mine told me to stay in class, during recess one day.

She told me that she can see a green aura coming from me. She taught me Islamic Studies and I guess she learned a thing or two in that department somewhere. Now, I was kind of thinking what wrong did I do to make her call me to see her personally and I guess I was nervous the whole time. Besides, I was 15 going on 16 and the nearest thing to those stuff that I knew was just horoscope. And I couldn't quite recall what was it that she told me except that it's green and her daughter around my age has the same color.

I was thinking, 'ohh no wonder I'm always in the green sports team in school and I guess that's why I love to look at those big, tall trees especially if they look like those in Taiping'. God, I miss Taiping.
Image via virtualmalaysia.com

Anyhow, since I can't remember what that teacher told me..I tried to find something about green aura. And I found this,
The green personality tend to want and actively strives for a sense of balance in their life – in just about all areas – and they are fair and balanced in the way they conduct themselves – whether in a relationship at home, at work or socially.
They like life to flow and are aware of the need to not be too fixed or rigid in life – they understand the bigger picture and that change is inevitable. They tend to be very quick minded and can usually be called upon for some good common sense advice.
As a result of understanding or appreciating change they can be quite goal orientated - they have a purpose and destination in mind - all the while wanting to feel good about it and to enjoy the process – hence the tendency to speak and act fairly and compassionately so that their conscience is clear and not gnawing away at their insides.

And there's something about aura too:
The aura is a fluid template that is constantly reflecting back to us our innermost thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams. It is all that you are, have been and want to be. It is not something we have no control over.
If it's not something we have no control over, I'm wondering can the color change then? Hurmm..

tough time

A couple of days ago, I read somewhere (forgot already) about Giuliana's condition. She's trying to get pregnant through IVF and they discovered that she has breast cancer.

I know how devastating that can be - mom was sick before, and even when I was there to help..it was nowhere near easy. I was thankful that I was able to stay at home during the difficult time - but now that I've grown a few years older, I realize that I was too young then. I helped a little around the house, and now I wish that I could have been a bigger help to mom emotionally.

It's been a few years, and I'm praying that we'll never have to go through that painful period again.

Giuliana and Bill is my favorite couple - they have fun together even if they're so busy with work and have to spend a lot of time apart, but the most important thing is they put family as priority. I hope I can have that someday.

She is just so brave to reveal her battle with cancer at this time. I hope she will have a speedy recovery and that they get all the cancerous cells completely out of her body.

A reminder: go get yourself checked girls.

the end

I remembered talking to my mom just a couple of days ago about all these tragedies that happened, after reading the newspaper. And that was after I read about a guy in Ipoh who was slashed to death outside his house by an old man. There were several other disturbing news, but that one was etched in my mind.

No matter how I look at it, we are living in a very dangerous world. Shouldn't everyone be alarmed at the rate of crime committed these days? How can we walk outside our house without thinking someone out there could harm us from now on?

I recalled years ago there was news about a mentally ill guy who got on a bus and slashed people on board. That got me thinking - what if a family member rides a bus (or any public transport for that matter) and encounter that?

Okay, there's that.

Then there's people who don't seem to care about others in need AT ALL.

Have you read or seen the news about this little 2 year old girl in China who was ran over by vehicles? The driver of the van who ran her down could be forgiven if  he/she just stop and see what they've just knocked down. But no. And the passersby couldn't care less - they just looked at her like she's some doll lying on the road. Then came another one than ran over her again, before being discovered by a lady. How could they do this to the little kid? We watched the video on the 9 o'clock news and were appalled by what we can see. Poor little girl.
Before
After
This should tell us just how bad human beings are. Shame on you people.

not too happy

I know we're supposed to welcome people into our home with open arms and big, H.U.G.E. smile plastered on our face. But we can only take so much, right?

First, this is our rented house..so there's a lot of people. Not actually a one man island, where there's a lot of space that you're free to roam about everywhere and do whatever you like. I know the person staying at our house asked for our permission, but she should've said something in person when she arrived here. She let our housemate (her friend) asked us after she made the call one day before she came - and that was it.

And that's for staying longer than 3 days, right in the middle of our mad exam rush. We have a paper to sit for tomorrow, and another one 24 hours after that. But here I am typing these words to get them out of my mind - don't blame me, I need to vent out.

She used her friend's stuff and also everyone else's (most of the time without asking first). Ohh, she even leave her laptop on power all the time..even when she went out. Grrr..haven't heard of conserving the energy?

The first day she came, she was preparing to take a nap after Maghrib when our classmates (me and my housemates are in the same class) came over. Those who came were the noisy bunch - my favorite ones, if I may add. They 'took over' our house, and of course our attention were directed towards them. Then, the said girl started to whine. She grumbled to me, saying our classmates disturbed her peace when she wanted to sleep, etc. I kept my mouth shut, but was boiling inside. Who does she think she is? To give out comments like that, when she's a guest at our house too?

The next morning I was in the shower when I heard loud noises. My housemate said that the girl's friends came to see her and they were shouting to each other, back and forth. It was early morning for God's sake and the others were still sleeping or studying. THAT is acceptable then?

I'm grateful that she's not around so much..

crazy thing that happened

How would you react if you've been instructed to do something, and you did your best to execute it within your means only to end up making a fool of yourself?

And the best thing is, it's gonna add salt to the open wound you've had for years.

My batch had been outcasts since forever - by the seniors, because we are small in number compared to others and we are not as enthusiastic as them in joining the club's activities. Then, they started to make us look bad in front of our juniors.

Now, this failed task is going to make us live in their 'sweet' memories forever. Everybody contributed towards this, and it would be a good thing only if each and everyone of us realize the truth and own up to the mistakes. There will always be people who only notice others' mistakes and not theirs - but they are not school children that needs to be guided all the time. Let them figure it out themselves.

We were told to close our booths on the second day, and it was embarrassing to those that we had given invites to the event. The planning and execution were all in shambles due to lack of experience in managing this kind of events and those who had experience didn't bother to lend a hand. Then came the part where accusations came flying from all corners, and it became worse when it was heated up after being mixed up with emotions from old squabbles. Only one word to describe them - kids.

Then when they decided by themselves that they want to organize another event purportedly to be something HUGE with artistes and everything, it just convince me that they are just not matured enough to be thinking clearly. It's definitely going to need a lot of time, energy, passion and all our concentration - and we don't have that. There's only a couple of months left before our take off to the outside world. And they wanted to sneak around and hide things from the admin - that is downright ridiculous and childish.

Now I don't even know the final say for this thing. I'm just hoping and praying that it will not affect our final outcome later.

put on a mask

I'm proud to be a Malaysian, even though it's stated at the right side bar that I'm Korean at heart :p There are so many things that comes with the M-package that I'd never change - we're always big on causes, no matter what and we have a lot of yummy food (that would definitely top my list any time). Ohh, and we're also very generous. Give, give, give all the time.

But there's one thing that makes me complain without fail. The people of this nation love to imitate other people. When Bollywood was HUGE, we followed suit. The telemovies shown were always including some sort of dancing and singing complete with the traditional Indian attire.

I should have known this one was coming, silly me was only focusing on the real K-pop scene (or rather the K-drama) that I wasn't really thinking about the 'mushrooms' back home. They popped out real fast, even the real mushrooms would be ashamed :p

Actually, I'm the one ashamed when I watched these vidoes..how can they do this to me? Why o why?
I'm gonna pack my bag and migrate to Korea this instance while wearing face mask.
